This website is operated by Hewn — (legal entity name and registered address to be inserted by the operator before publication), registered in Belgium. The data controller is the same entity. Contact: hello@hewn.studio.
What we collect
We collect the information you provide when you create an account, place an order, or subscribe to our newsletter: name, email address, shipping address, billing address, telephone (optional), and payment information (processed by Shopify Payments and Stripe — we do not store full card numbers on our systems). When you browse the site, we collect technical information automatically: IP address, browser, device, pages viewed, time on site. This is used to maintain the site and to understand which pages are useful.
Why we collect it
- To fulfil your order (legal basis: contract performance)
- To send transactional emails about your order (contract performance)
- To send marketing emails, only if you opt in (legal basis: consent — you can withdraw at any time via the unsubscribe link in every email)
- To comply with accounting and tax obligations (legal obligation)
- To improve the site (legitimate interest)
Cookies
The site uses essential cookies (cart, login, checkout) and analytics cookies (Shopify Analytics, optionally Google Analytics). A consent banner is shown on first visit. You can refuse analytics cookies and the site continues to function.
Who we share it with
- Shopify (our e-commerce platform and payment processor)
- Our shipping partners (only the address and contact required for delivery)
- Our email platform (Klaviyo — only the data needed to send the emails you've consented to)
- Tax authorities and accountants (only when legally required)
We do not sell your data, ever.
How long we keep it
Order data: ten years (Belgian tax law). Marketing consent: until you withdraw it. Technical / analytics data: thirteen months.
Your rights
Under GDPR you can request access to your data, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted (subject to legal retention obligations), withdraw consent, or object to processing. Write to hello@hewn.studio. Replies within one month.
You can also file a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (autoriteprotectiondonnees.be) if you believe your rights have not been respected.
