Made for the daily.
There is a category of object most homes own but rarely think about: the brush, the comb, the small tin on the hallway shelf next to the lead. These are the tools that shape the routines we don't notice — the morning brush before work, the wipe of the paws after the walk, the bath on a Sunday afternoon.
Hewn was started because we found those tools, on the whole, badly considered. Most pet brushes are plastic and disposable. Most pet shampoos smell of laboratory. Most paw balms are sold in tins that crack the first time they are dropped.
We make a small range of objects designed differently. The body of a brush sits with a slight weight in the hand. A shampoo carries a single drop of cedarwood and nothing else. A paw balm comes in an aluminium tin shaped to be opened with one hand. None of these are large differences. Together, they make the routines more pleasant — and the act of caring for an animal less of a chore and more of a small ritual.
Hewn is based in Belgium and ships across Europe. The range is intentionally small. We would rather make ten things well than fifty things adequately, and we expect the catalogue to grow only when we have an object that earns its place.
If you have questions about a product, the routines, or your animal specifically, write to us. We answer every message.
